Bathroom renovation contractors in London.
A bathroom renovation involves multiple trades working in a confined space in a precise sequence — plumber, electrician, tiler, plasterer, carpenter. When poorly coordinated, bathrooms are where things go wrong. Leaks behind tiles, incorrect falls on shower trays, inadequate ventilation and electrical non-compliance are common consequences of poor management.
RCB delivers fully coordinated bathroom renovations. We manage the strip-out, first fix plumbing and electrics, waterproofing, tiling, second fix, sanitaryware installation and final finishing as a single, sequenced operation.
Whether you are renovating a single family bathroom, adding an en-suite as part of a loft conversion, or refitting multiple bathrooms in a full house refurbishment, RCB brings the same level of coordination and quality control to every project.

How It Works
The RCB process for this service.
Survey & Design
We assess the existing bathroom, discuss layout options, agree specification for sanitaryware, tiling and fittings, and confirm the scope of works.
Estimate & Materials
A detailed estimate covering all labour, materials and fittings. Second-fix materials (sanitaryware, tiles, taps) are client-supplied — RCB advises on specification and compatibility.
Strip & First Fix
Full strip-out of the existing bathroom followed by plumbing and electrical first fix, waterproofing, floor preparation and wall boarding.
Tile, Fit & Finish
Tiling, sanitaryware installation, second fix plumbing and electrics, sealing, decoration and final snagging for a watertight, finished bathroom.
Planning & Regulations
Bathroom renovations do not typically require planning permission. However, any electrical work in a bathroom is notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations and must be carried out by a qualified electrician or notified to Building Control. If you are adding a new bathroom where one did not exist before (e.g., en-suite in a loft conversion), waste drainage and ventilation must comply with Building Regulations. RCB ensures all plumbing and electrical work is compliant and certified.
FAQs
Common questions.
How much does a bathroom renovation cost in London?
A full bathroom strip and refit in London typically costs from £8,000 to £15,000 for a standard family bathroom, depending on size, specification and the condition of existing plumbing and electrics. High-end specifications, wet rooms, or bathrooms requiring significant plumbing reconfiguration can cost more. RCB provides a clear, itemised estimate before any work begins.
How long does a bathroom renovation take?
A standard bathroom renovation takes 2–4 weeks from strip-out to completion. This includes strip-out, first fix plumbing and electrics, waterproofing, tiling, second fix, sanitaryware installation and finishing. Complex renovations involving structural changes or wet room formations may take longer.
Do I need to supply my own tiles and sanitaryware?
Yes — second-fix materials including tiles, sanitaryware, taps, shower fittings and accessories are client-supplied. This gives you full control over style, specification and budget. RCB will advise on what you need to order, quantities, and compatibility with the plumbing configuration.
Can you reconfigure the bathroom layout?
Yes. If you want to move the toilet, basin, bath or shower to a different position, RCB can reconfigure the plumbing and waste drainage to suit the new layout. This adds to the scope and cost but is common in renovation projects where the original layout is inefficient.
Do I need Building Regulations for a bathroom renovation?
Electrical work in bathrooms is notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations. If you are adding a completely new bathroom (not replacing an existing one), the drainage, ventilation and structural loading must also comply. RCB ensures all work is carried out to the required standards and certified where necessary.
