Kitchen Extensions
Kitchen extensions that transform how you live.
Open-plan kitchen extensions, structural knock-throughs and bespoke kitchen renovations. Design, structural works and build — managed by RCB from concept to completion.
The kitchen extension. Done properly.
A kitchen extension is one of the most popular and most impactful home improvements in London. When done properly, it transforms daily life — creating open, light-filled living and cooking spaces that work for families, for entertaining and for everyday use.
The key is proper structural management. Load-bearing wall removal, steel beam installation and correct roof design are non-negotiable elements of a kitchen extension done to a professional standard.
RCB manages the complete kitchen extension process — from initial feasibility and structural assessment through planning, Building Regulations, structural build, internal fit-out, kitchen installation and final handover.

FAQs
Common questions.
Can I remove a load-bearing wall in my kitchen without an extension?
Yes — many clients remove load-bearing walls to open up existing kitchen and dining areas without extending. This requires structural calculations, Building Regulations notice and installation of a structural steel beam. RCB coordinates this as a standalone service.
What glazing options are available for kitchen extensions?
Common options include bi-fold doors, sliding doors, roof lanterns, structural glass roofs, and large fixed-frame windows. RCB advises on the options best suited to your extension design and budget.
Can RCB supply and install the kitchen?
Yes. RCB can coordinate kitchen supply and installation as part of the overall project, or work alongside a separate kitchen supplier of your choice.
How long does a kitchen extension take?
A typical single-storey rear kitchen extension takes 10–16 weeks from site start. Add 8–16 weeks for pre-construction (design, planning, Building Regulations). Kitchen installation typically takes 2–3 weeks within the overall programme.
