Modern gym and fitness studio interior

For Gym & Fitness Owners

Gym Fit-Outs Built for Real Loads.

Reinforced floors. Acoustic isolation. Serious ventilation. Studios, changing rooms and showers. A gym punishes a bad fit-out fast — so we build for the loads, noise and airflow it actually generates.

Why Gym Fit-Outs Fall Apart

A gym punishes a bad fit-out faster than almost any other space. Floors that were never reinforced crack under the deadlift platform. Acoustics nobody designed mean noise complaints and an enforcement notice. Ventilation that cannot cope leaves a stifling, sweaty floor that empties out by week three. Most contractors quote a generic shop fit-out, win the job, and discover the loads, the noise and the airflow only once the dumbbells land. The over-budget, under-built gym is a trade cliché.

Floor not reinforced for free weights — cracks under the platforms
No acoustic isolation — noise complaints and an enforcement notice
Ventilation undersized — stifling floor that drives members away
Rig and mirror fixings inadequate — safety risk on day one
Vague quote, then “unforeseen” structural and services costs every week

RCB exists to be the contractor who builds for the real loads, noise and airflow a gym actually generates.

What RCB Delivers for Gyms

A gym is a structural project, an acoustic project, an M&E project and a programme project at once — coordinated under one accountable contractor who understands how hard a training floor gets used.

Floors, Acoustics & Free-Weight Zones

  • Reinforced floors and platforms designed for heavy free weights and rigs
  • Acoustic isolation and impact-absorbing build-ups to protect neighbours
  • Rubber, vinyl and sprung flooring zoned by training type
  • Mirror walls, rig fixings and equipment anchoring done properly

Ventilation, Power & Studios

  • High-capacity ventilation and cooling for busy training floors
  • Power and data planned for cardio, AV, lighting and sound systems
  • Studio rooms for classes, spin and functional training with sprung floors
  • Lighting schemes that look good on camera and on the floor

Changing Rooms & Conversions

  • Changing rooms, showers, lockers and WCs to commercial standards
  • Converting retail, office or industrial units into gyms and studios
  • Structural alterations, drainage and services for high-traffic use
  • DDA / Part M accessible access, changing and WCs

Open On Programme

  • Fixed programme built backwards from your opening or launch date
  • Coordination with equipment suppliers and AV installers
  • Phased and out-of-hours working for sites already trading
  • No half-finished handovers — snagging and deep clean included

Three Reasons Owners Choose RCB

You do not buy a builder. You buy an outcome. Here is the outcome a gym fit-out with RCB delivers.

Solutions

We solve the problems that wreck gym fit-outs — floor loading, acoustic isolation, ventilation, rig anchoring, high-traffic services — under one accountable roof, instead of leaving you to coordinate structural and M&E specialists.

Convenience

One contractor manages design, structure, services, equipment and AV coordination and building control, working around your launch date with phased and out-of-hours options. A single point of contact, one programme, weekly updates.

Experience

The result is a floor members love and keep coming back to — solid underfoot, well-aired, well-lit, photogenic and built to take a beating without falling apart in year one.

How Your Fit-Out Works

Four stages. One programme. You always know where you are — and what happens next.

01

Survey & Loads Plan

We survey the premises and assess the real demands — floor loading, acoustics, ventilation, power and drainage. You get a clear plan and programme tied to your launch date, not a generic shop-fit number.

02

Design & Consents

We develop the layout and zoning with you, then handle planning and Building Regulations. Floor reinforcement, acoustic isolation and ventilation are designed in from the start.

03

Fit-Out & Services

Structural works, reinforced floors, acoustic build-ups, ventilation, studios, changing rooms and finishes delivered to programme. Equipment and AV suppliers coordinated by us. Phased and out-of-hours where needed.

04

Handover & Launch-Ready

Snagging complete, deep clean done, compliance documentation issued and the space handed over ready to open. Launch on the date we agreed.

Why Gym Owners Choose RCB

Accreditations are not wallpaper. They are the evidence your landlord, insurer and investors ask for.

Gym Fit-Out FAQs

Can you reinforce a floor for heavy free weights?

Yes. Free-weight areas, lifting platforms and heavy rigs impose loads that ordinary floors are not built for. We assess the existing structure with a structural engineer, design the reinforcement and platform build-ups needed, and combine them with impact-absorbing and acoustic layers so the floor takes the load and protects the rest of the building.

How do you stop noise reaching neighbours above or beside the gym?

Acoustic isolation is one of the most common reasons gyms get into trouble, especially below residential or office space. We design floating floors, impact-absorbing build-ups and acoustic separation to control both airborne and impact noise, and we factor it in from the start because retrofitting it later is far more expensive and disruptive.

Can you handle ventilation for a busy training floor?

Yes. A gym generates a lot of heat and moisture, and undersized ventilation is a fast way to lose members. We design high-capacity ventilation and cooling sized for your floor area and member numbers, zoned across studios, cardio and free-weight areas so the whole space stays comfortable under load.

Can you convert a shop or industrial unit into a gym?

Yes. We convert retail, office and industrial units into gyms and studios — handling change-of-use planning, structural alterations, floor reinforcement, acoustics, ventilation, changing rooms, showers and accessible access. We assess the premises first so you know it can take the loads and services a gym needs before you commit.
