For Medical Practices
Healthcare Environments Built to the Standard That Gets Inspected.
GP surgeries, clinics and healthcare premises refurbished and fitted out by a contractor who understands clinical environments — infection control, HTM compliance, CQC readiness and patient access included as standard.
Why Healthcare Projects Fail Under Inspection
A medical premises contractor who does not understand clinical environments creates problems that cannot be painted over. The waiting room that fails infection control because the wrong surfaces were specified. The ventilation that does not meet HTM guidance so the CQC inspection raises a concern. The accessible entrance that technically complies but does not work for elderly or wheelchair-using patients. Most general builders have never been inside a healthcare environment that has been properly designed and inspected — and it shows on delivery.
RCB builds healthcare environments that meet the standards CQC, Building Control and NHS property teams actually apply — not a builder's best guess at what a surgery looks like.
What RCB Delivers for Medical Practices
Healthcare environments are not office refurbishments with hand sanitiser on the wall. Infection control, HTM guidance, CQC requirements and NHS property rules all apply — and we build to them from day one.

Three Reasons Practices Choose RCB
You do not buy a builder. You buy a CQC-ready environment, a practice that stays open and a contractor who understands healthcare.
Solutions
We understand the clinical, compliance and operational requirements of primary and secondary care premises — from HTM ventilation guidance and infection control surfaces through to CQC-ready documentation and NHS property approval routes. We build healthcare environments, not just rooms.
Convenience
We phase the works around your appointment schedule, offer out-of-hours delivery and coordinate every trade under one contract. You maintain patient access throughout, with one point of contact managing the programme and updating you weekly — not daily calls to three different contractors.
Experience
We have delivered projects across GP surgeries, dental practices, physiotherapy clinics and specialist medical suites across East London and the surrounding boroughs. We know how landlords, NHS estates teams and Building Control approach healthcare projects — and we manage those conversations so you can focus on your patients.
How Your Project Works
Four stages. One programme. Patients protected throughout.
Clinical Brief & Survey
We survey the premises, understand your patient numbers, clinical workflows and CQC or NHS requirements. You receive a scope that covers compliance, infection control, access and services — not just the visible finishes.
Design, Consents & Approvals
We develop the layout with you, manage planning and Building Control submissions, and handle NHS property or landlord approvals. Clinical environment requirements are built in at design stage — not discovered on site.
Phased Works On Programme
All trades managed by us. Works phased around patient access and appointment schedules. Out-of-hours and weekend options available. Infection control procedures maintained throughout. Weekly updates so you always know where we are.
CQC-Ready Handover
Snagging complete, compliance documentation issued, surfaces and systems commissioned and the environment handed over ready for inspection. You open — or re-open — confident that the premises meet the standard your regulator will apply.
Why Healthcare Clients Choose RCB

Medical Premises FAQs
Can you phase works around a live GP surgery?
Yes. Phasing around patient access and appointment schedules is one of the most important things we do for healthcare clients. We design the programme so clinical areas remain available as much as possible, use dust-suppression and zoning to maintain infection control, and offer out-of-hours and weekend delivery where daytime working would disrupt patient care.
Do you understand NHS property approval routes and CQC requirements?
Yes. NHS-owned and leased premises often require approval from NHS estates teams, Integrated Care Boards or NHS Property Services before works can proceed. We are familiar with those approval routes and build them into the programme at the start. On CQC requirements, we specify clinical environments — surfaces, ventilation, handwash provision — to the standards the inspection process applies.
Can you handle ventilation to HTM guidelines?
Yes. Healthcare ventilation is governed by Health Technical Memoranda — particularly HTM 03-01 for heating and ventilation. We design and install ventilation systems to those guidelines, coordinating with mechanical engineers where required to ensure the system is correctly specified, installed and commissioned before handover.
What types of medical premises do you work on?
We work across GP surgeries, primary care networks, dental practices, physiotherapy and MSK clinics, cosmetic and aesthetics studios, pharmacy fit-outs, optician practices and specialist consulting suites. If you have a healthcare premises project and are not sure whether it falls within what we cover, contact us and we will tell you directly.
