Accessibility Adaptations
Making Your Home Work for the Next Chapter.
Wet rooms, widened doorways, ground floor living, stairlift preparation. DFG grant-ready scopes, fixed prices, and a team that treats your home with the care it deserves.
When Adaptation Work Goes Wrong, It's Personal
A poorly installed wet room is not just an inconvenience — it is a safety risk for someone who depends on it daily. The building industry has too many contractors who treat accessibility work as a box-tick. The result is grab rails that pull from walls, shower floors that flood, and families who have to redo expensive work within a year.
RCB builds adaptations that are safe, properly specified, and built to last — because the person using them depends on it.
What RCB Delivers
Accessibility adaptations that are specified properly, priced honestly, and carried out with the patience and care this kind of work demands.
DFG Grant — We Help You Navigate It
- Disabled Facilities Grant covers up to £30,000 for eligible adaptations

- Scope and pricing formatted to support your council application
- We have completed DFG-funded projects — we know the process
Wet Rooms That Actually Work
- Level-access shower areas with correct falls and tanking — no leaks, no trips
- Non-slip ceramic tiling, grab rails positioned to OT specification
- Fold-down shower seats, thermostatic valves, and accessible sanitaryware
- Fully waterproofed, properly ventilated — built to last, not just to pass inspection
Ground Floor Living & Wider Access

- Doorway widening to 850mm+ to accommodate wheelchairs and mobility aids
- Ramp installations, threshold removals, and level access entrances
- Through-floor lift and stairlift structural preparation if required
Sensitive to the People, Not Just the Project
- We work around the occupant's routine — not the other way around
- Clean, tidy, respectful workers — your home, not a building site
- Clear daily briefings so the family knows exactly what is happening
- No cold handshakes and a clipboard — real people who take care
How We Work With You
A calm, structured process that respects the home and the people in it.
Home Visit — No Pressure
We visit the property with you and, where relevant, your occupational therapist or family member. We listen first. We measure and assess before we recommend anything.
Written Scope and Fixed Price
Every adaptation specified in plain English with a fixed price. If a DFG application is involved, we format the documentation to support it. No vague estimates.
Works Carried Out With Care
Phased where necessary to keep the home liveable. Daily tidying. Workers who understand they are in someone's home — not a commercial site.
Handover and Aftercare
We walk through every adaptation with the occupant and family. Grab rail positions checked, wet room function tested, all documentation left with you. We are contactable after completion.
A Builder You Can Trust With This
Independently verified, fully accredited — the assurance families need when choosing a contractor for sensitive work.
Independently Verified — Not Self-Reported
All 114 reviews on Checkatrade are from verified homeowners. Our 9.96/10 rating cannot be bought or inflated. TrustMark and FMB membership means we are held to professional standards your family can rely on.
Your Questions Answered
Can you work alongside an occupational therapist?
Yes — and we recommend it. The OT's assessment drives the specification. We translate their recommendations into a buildable, priced scope. If a DFG application is in progress, we coordinate with the local authority's preferred process.
How does the DFG grant process work with you?
Once the OT assessment is complete and the grant is approved, we produce a priced scope that aligns with the approved grant items. We invoice to grant milestones. We have completed DFG projects before and know how to avoid delays that stall reimbursement.
Can someone stay in the house while you work?
In most cases, yes. We plan works to maintain access to essential facilities throughout. Where a wet room is being installed in the only bathroom, we discuss a temporary arrangement before starting — never leaving the occupant without access.
What if the family is managing this remotely?
We provide regular written updates and are available for calls with family members who are coordinating from a distance. Nothing progresses without your knowledge. We understand that for many families this is a deeply personal project.
