Sports club facilities refurbishment

For Sports Clubs & Leisure Facilities

Facilities Your Members Deserve. Done Before the Season Starts.

Changing rooms. Clubhouse. Bar. Storage. External works. RCB builds around your fixture calendar, documents for your grants, and hands over before your members need to use it. No excuses when the first home game arrives.

Why Sports Clubs Get Let Down by Ordinary Contractors

Sports clubs get burned by contractors who do not understand the operating reality of a club. They start in February, run three weeks late, and your changing rooms are still a building site when the first home game kicks off. The committee has to explain to 200 members why the showers do not work. The grant funder wants to know why the budget has been exceeded. And the contractor has gone quiet. This is the predictable result of appointing the cheapest quote with no programme discipline.

Contractor starts in February — changing rooms unfinished for the March home fixtures
Grant documentation never produced — club cannot close the Sport England award
Showers installed without Legionella risk assessment — council enforcement follows
No DDA compliance — wheelchair users cannot access the new facilities
Variations loaded mid-project eat the contingency the committee did not know existed

RCB plans around your calendar, documents for your grants, and delivers facilities your members can use the moment the season opens.

Three Reasons Clubs Choose RCB

Your committee needs a contractor that understands the operating reality of a club. Here is what working with RCB delivers.

Solutions

We solve the specific challenges sports clubs face: grant documentation, fixture-aware programming, DDA compliance, Legionella certification and committee-level reporting — all under one accountable principal contractor.

Convenience

One contractor coordinates changing rooms, M&E, external works and compliance sign-off. Your committee gets weekly updates, not monthly surprises. And the work finishes before your first home game.

Experience

The result is facilities your members are proud of — modern showers, a functioning clubhouse, compliant changing rooms — delivered to a programme your season can depend on. Members notice. And so does the committee that appointed you.

How Your Project Works

Four stages planned around your fixture calendar, grant obligations and committee approval cycle.

01

Fixture Calendar Review

Before we price, we review your playing calendar and identify the windows available for different phases of work. The programme is built around your season — not the other way around.

02

Grant-Compatible Cost Plan

An itemised cost plan structured for committee approval and grant body requirements. We identify which elements qualify for funding and phase the work to align with grant releases.

03

Phased Construction

Works delivered in phases around your fixtures. Critical facilities — changing rooms, showers — prioritised to be operational before first match. Progress reported to committee weekly.

04

Compliance Handover

Full certification pack: building control, electrical, gas, water hygiene certificates and warranties. Everything you need for the governing body sign-off and grant close.

Why Clubs Trust RCB

Accreditations your governing body, insurer and committee need to see.

Sports Club FAQs

Can you work to a Sport England or FA facilities grant format?

Yes. We are experienced in producing cost plans and procurement documentation compatible with Sport England, Football Foundation, RFU and local authority grant requirements. Tell us your funder when you enquire and we will structure the pricing accordingly.

Can you work during the close season only?

Yes, and this is often the most efficient approach for changing room and pitch-side works. We will work with your calendar to programme major works in the close season and plan any in-season phases around fixture gaps. A clear programme is agreed before any work starts.

What about Legionella compliance for showers?

All new or refurbished hot and cold water systems we install are subject to a Legionella risk assessment at completion. We coordinate this as part of the handover process. For existing systems being modified, we flag the risk assessment requirement at design stage so it is factored into the programme and budget.

Do you handle external works like car parks and spectator enclosures?

Yes. External works including car parking, hard standing, drainage, boundary fencing and spectator areas can all be included in our scope. We manage these alongside the building works so you have one contractor, one programme and one point of accountability.

Our committee needs to approve costs in stages — is that possible?

Absolutely. We can phase the cost plan and contract to align with committee approval cycles and grant release schedules. Stage payments, phased starts and conditional instructions are all things we accommodate for club clients. We understand that committee governance moves at a different pace to a private development.
