For Veterinary Clinics

Vet Practice Fit-Outs Built for Clinical Reality.

Consult rooms. Operating theatres. Kennels and wards. Shielded imaging. Specialist drainage and ventilation. A veterinary fit-out is a hospital build — and we treat it like one.

Why Most Builders Get a Vet Practice Wrong

A veterinary practice is a hospital for animals — and most builders fit it out like a shop. They have never specified theatre ventilation, never dealt with kennel drainage and acoustics, never shielded an imaging room. They underquote, blow the programme, and hand back a clinic that smells wrong, floods at the wash-down, and falls short of RCVS standards. Every week the practice cannot run properly is lost income and stressed animals — and the builder has moved on.

Kennel and ward drainage inadequate — wash-down areas flood
No proper theatre ventilation — air quality fails clinical standards
Imaging room built without correct shielding — radiation sign-off refused
Soundproofing ignored — barking disturbs staff, patients and neighbours
Vague quote, then “unforeseen” clinical requirements added every week

RCB exists to be the contractor who builds for clinical reality — drainage, ventilation, shielding, acoustics and all.

Three Reasons Practices Choose RCB

You do not buy a builder. You buy an outcome. Here is the outcome a veterinary fit-out with RCB delivers.

Solutions

We solve the problems unique to vet practices — kennel drainage, theatre ventilation, imaging shielding, infection control, acoustics — under one accountable roof, instead of leaving you to coordinate a pack of specialists.

Convenience

One contractor manages design, services, equipment coordination and building control, working around your clinic schedule with phased and out-of-hours options. A single point of contact, one programme, weekly updates.

Experience

The result is a practice that works the way your clinical team works, supports RCVS standards, and reassures anxious owners and animals the moment they arrive — calm, clean and clearly professional.

How Your Fit-Out Works

Four stages. One programme. You always know where you are — and what happens next.

01

Survey & Clinical Plan

We survey the premises, review your clinical workflow and equipment, and map the requirements — drainage, ventilation, shielding, infection control. You get a clear plan and programme tied to your opening timeline.

02

Design & Consents

We develop the clinical layout with you, coordinate radiation protection advice for imaging, and handle planning and Building Regulations. Drainage, ventilation and acoustics are designed in from the start.

03

Fit-Out & Services

Structural works, services, theatre and kennel installations, hygienic finishes and imaging rooms delivered to programme. Equipment suppliers coordinated by us. Phased and out-of-hours where needed.

04

Handover

Snagging complete, deep clean done, compliance documentation issued and the practice handed over ready to run. Open on the date we agreed.

Veterinary Fit-Out FAQs

Do you build to RCVS Practice Standards Scheme requirements?

Yes. We build the fabric and services of the practice — clinical flow, hygienic finishes, drainage, ventilation, infection control and shielded imaging — to support the RCVS Practice Standards Scheme. Accreditation itself is assessed by the RCVS and remains the practice's responsibility, but we make sure the building supports it and provide the documentation to evidence the works.

Can you handle kennel and ward drainage and acoustics?

Yes. Kennel and ward areas need robust wash-down drainage, the right floor falls, durable hygienic surfaces and acoustic control to stop noise carrying to consult rooms, staff areas and neighbours. We design and build all of this in from the start rather than bolting it on, because it is one of the things builders most often get wrong.

Can you build a shielded X-ray or imaging room?

Yes. We construct radiation-shielded imaging rooms to the specification set out in your radiation protection advisor's report, including lead lining to walls, doors and viewing panels as required, and we coordinate with your RPA so the room is built to the assessed standard and ready for sign-off.

Can you convert a shop or unit into a veterinary practice?

Yes. We convert retail, office and industrial units into fully working veterinary practices — handling change-of-use planning, structural alterations, clinical services, drainage, ventilation, kennelling and imaging rooms. We assess the premises first so you know it can meet clinical requirements before you commit.
