RCB prices plumbing and heating work on a fixed-scope basis. We survey your property, design the system, and quote a fixed price for the full installation. The quote covers labour, commissioning, certification, and building control notification where required. You know what you are paying before we start, and that number does not change.
We are Gas Safe registered and carry out all gas work in-house. Heating systems are designed to BS 6798 and Part L requirements. Unvented cylinder installations are carried out by G3-qualified engineers. Every installation is commissioned, pressure-tested, and handed over with full documentation.

Survey & System Design
We carry out a full survey of your existing plumbing and heating installation — assessing pipe runs, boiler capacity, pressure, and hot water demand. You receive a clear scope and fixed price before any work begins.
Fixed Quote & Programme
A fully itemised quote covering every component, every metre of pipework, and every appliance. A realistic programme so you know which days each area will be affected and when hot water and heating will be restored.
First Fix Installation
All pipe runs, underfloor heating circuits, and structural penetrations completed before any decoration. Boiler flue position agreed and fitted. System pressure-tested before closing up.
Commissioning & Certification
Full system commissioned to manufacturer specifications. Gas Safe certificate issued. Boiler registered with manufacturer for warranty. Building control notified where applicable. Full handover pack provided.
Planning & Regulations
Gas work in domestic and commercial premises must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer — it is a legal requirement under the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998. All RCB gas work is carried out by Gas Safe registered operatives and certificated on completion. Unvented hot water systems must be installed by a G3-qualified engineer under Building Regulations Part G. Heating systems in new builds and major refurbishments must comply with Part L (Conservation of Fuel and Power). Central heating system design follows BS 6798 (Specification for Installation, Commissioning and Servicing of Gas-Fired Boilers). Landlord gas safety checks (CP12) are a legal requirement for all rented properties, required annually.

Do I need building regulations approval for a new boiler?
Yes. Boiler installations are notifiable under Part J (combustion appliances) and Part L (energy efficiency) of the Building Regulations. A Gas Safe registered contractor can self-certify the work and notify building control on your behalf — RCB handles this as standard. You receive a Building Regulations Completion Certificate which is required for any future sale or remortgage.
What is the difference between a combi boiler and a system boiler?
A combi (combination) boiler provides heating and instant hot water directly from the mains — no hot water cylinder or cold water tank required. It suits smaller properties with one or two bathrooms. A system boiler works with an unvented cylinder to store hot water, providing higher flow rates suited to larger properties with multiple bathrooms. RCB will recommend the right system for your property size, water pressure, and usage pattern.
Can you install underfloor heating in an existing property?
Yes. Wet underfloor heating (connected to the central heating system) can be retrofitted in most properties — typically using low-profile screed or overlay systems that add minimal floor height. Electric underfloor heating is a simpler retrofit option for bathrooms and kitchens. RCB will assess your floor construction and recommend the most cost-effective system.
