Are you comparing prices — or comparing assumptions? Two quotes for the same loft or extension can be far apart because they are not pricing the same job. We go through them with you so you can see what each one really covers before you sign.
What we check in every quote
The cheapest total is not always the cheapest project. These are the places where quotes most often differ.
What is actually included
Structure, roof, windows, first and second fix, plastering, decoration, making good — line by line, not a single total.
What is excluded
Common gaps: party wall costs, Building Control fees, structural engineer, skips and scaffold, drainage, electrics upgrades, finishes.
Provisional sums and allowances
Figures that are guesses until work starts. A low quote often has more of them — and they can grow.
Who supplies what
Kitchen, sanitaryware, tiles, flooring and fittings: whose cost, whose choice, and when they must be ordered.
Programme and payments
How long, what happens if it slips, and whether payments follow real progress rather than dates.
Drawings and approvals
Whether the quote is based on planning drawings only, or on structural and Building Regulations information it can actually be built from.

Questions
Why are my builders' quotes so different?
Usually because they are not pricing the same job. One may include items another has excluded or left as provisional sums. Until the scope is the same, the totals cannot be compared fairly.
Do I have to use rcbGroup to build if you review my quotes?
No. The aim is to help you make a well-informed decision. If you would like us to price the work too, we can — but that is your choice.

The quotes you have received, and any drawings or planning documents. Photos of the property help too.
